This intermediate level course is designed for master’s level mental health practitioners interested in deepening and refining their ability to apply the SMART model independently. Participants will gain refined skills in assessment and treatment, nuanced ways to involve and include caregivers in treatment, and greater capacity to implement Somatic Regulation Tools, Therapist Skills and Video Reflection to enhance treatment effectiveness. This course will promote the ability to recognize and respond to embodied traumatic content in session. Participants will engage actively with each other and the facilitator reflecting on clinical material to implement the Model in their unique settings.
Participants are expected to present clinical (or simulated) video of their SMART work and will engage in Video Reflection to deepen their skills in assessment and treatment in SMART, and expand their skills in somatic regulation, trauma processing, and attachment-building.
