About this course

SMART Foundations Course: An introductory course covering the basics of the SMART model including the core Therapist Skills, Tools of Regulation, and an overview of the three threads of the SMART Spiral ; Somatic Regulation, Trauma Processing, and Attachment-building. The course utilizes lecture, clinical video, discussion, and experiential exercises. SMARTmoves offers this course in both an online and in-person format. 

SMARTmoves Partners was formed in 2018 to support professional training, consultation and development of Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART), a powerful, therapeutic healing approach for children, teens and families impacted by maltreatment, emotional neglect and chronic stress within caregiving system and communities. SMART supports youth and families to transform adverse and traumatic experiences through movement, playfulness, connection and a deep held respect for the wisdom of the body in healing.
